Football Fun

What a fantastic time we had with Jae who taught us some football skills then ran a mini tournament in the blazing hot sunny afternoon. The children just loved getting back out on the field and having a great run around improving their skills.
Thanks Jae!

Kids in Town 2017

The busy Arts term has kicked off well with a super "Kids in Town" event held today at the Art Gallery. Hoon Hay School was the only school performing and the children gave it their all to an appreciative audience of parents, grandparents, and visitors to the Art Gallery.
Half of Room 15 took part by performing in the Kapa Haka and choir items. They put their heart and soul into it today. Well done children and special thanks to the parents and grandparents who came out to support us.

Zach listens carefully to Sophie's mihi

This was a very special moment when Flynn, Riley, and Kamai started the performance.

Lake Hoon Hay

The children had a blast making boats and floating them in the lake created by the rain last Friday. It was heaps of fun!

El Gregoe - "You've Got the Power"

On Wednesday we had Elgregoe come to visit us. Elgregoe is a magician and ventriloquist who entertained us with his fast-paced tricks, puppets, music and more! His YOU'VE GOT THE POWER show told the students that they have the power to make a difference at our school. This year's theme is YOU BE THE HERO! A HERO shows Honesty, has Empathy, is Resilient and looks for Opportunities to make a difference. He also talked about the quality of respect.

His final illusion was amazing, he managed to take Simon's middle part of his body away! It was mind blowing how it happened!

Check out the photos below.

Breakout!

On Tuesday several of the students got to try out Miss Scott's Red Riding Hood Breakout.
Breakout EDU allows for the facilitation of games (related to different curriculum areas) where the players used teamwork and critical thinking to solve a series of challenging puzzles in order to open the locked box.
It was a lot of fun and they managed to solve the puzzles with 3 minutes to spare!

Thanks Miss Scott!
