Kia Ora Keiran
We loved having Keiran Reid visit us yesterday. He was welcomed by our Kapa Haka students and he told the children to have fun and find the thing that they love to do. That's what we're all about here at Hoon Hay School.
Thanks Keiran!

Flextangle Fun
What a fun time had in the last week of term making these flextangles. We had to take care with colouring our pattern, cutting, and then gluing it carefully. After the glue had had plenty of time to dry, it was time to give it a go!
Who needs an expensive fidget spinner when you have these bright and colourful paper toys to play with. Check out how to make them at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pta1R7g05Xg, download the template, and give it a go with your friends.

ART from the HeART
What a fantastic Art Exhibition we had on the 12-13 September in the school hall. The hall transformed into a beautiful magical space filled with so much creativity - it was a joy! As one student said, "I can't believe this is my school hall!" summed up the feeling we all had.
In Room 15, we went crazy on our characters made from recycled materials. What a lot of hot glue, paint, and recycled bits and pieces were used! The students named their characters who took on a life of their own during ART from the HeART.
Thank you whanau for coming along to support us.

Football Fun
What a fantastic time we had with Jae who taught us some football skills then ran a mini tournament in the blazing hot sunny afternoon. The children just loved getting back out on the field and having a great run around improving their skills.
Thanks Jae!

Kids in Town 2017
The busy Arts term has kicked off well with a super "Kids in Town" event held today at the Art Gallery. Hoon Hay School was the only school performing and the children gave it their all to an appreciative audience of parents, grandparents, and visitors to the Art Gallery.
Half of Room 15 took part by performing in the Kapa Haka and choir items. They put their heart and soul into it today. Well done children and special thanks to the parents and grandparents who came out to support us.

Zach listens carefully to Sophie's mihi |
This was a very special moment when Flynn, Riley, and Kamai started the performance. |
